The best portable speaker ever made

Whilst being a huge fan of Sonos from afar, I never really bought into the ecosystem for fear of being trapped. I have always been impressed with their speaker quality but honestly never really lived in a place big enough to justify the premium for multi-room speaker capabilities. When they released the Move, that changed quickly.
The Move, priced at $169, is their cheapest speaker to date BUT you get a whole load of tech for your dollar. It is waterproof, dustproof, feels very solid, and is ideal for a speaker that you can move between indoors and outdoors. I use it all the time now when we are hanging on the balcony or doing a BBQ.
The speaker has a feature called Auto Trueplay which adjusts the sounds to the environment as the speaker “senses” the best settings. I honestly couldn’t tell a massive difference but it was enough that you notice something but I wouldn’t say it’s a game-changer.
What is amazing is the quality and depth of the sound. Despite its compact size, the sound is rich and deep and has remarkable bass. This combined with the battery life, ease of putting on music using the Sonos app means that it is slowly replacing my main speakers at home for quiet dinner background music. Why? Having the speaker placed at the end of the table is a far easier and frankly a more pleasant experience than my large floor speakers on in the background, it just feels much more intimate.
One critique I would make is that it’s a shame they didn’t include the wireless charger out of the box or at least you give you the option to add it. The wire that is included is fine, but the whole thing would be just that much easier if I didn’t have to buy the wireless separately.
Anyways, get the Roam, its hands the best speaker on the market in its category.
